Following the f1s victory at le mans in 1995 the manufacturer launched a short batch of commemorative road capable cars that were dubbed the f1 lm. The lm spec cars received a high downforce package consisting of a reshaped front end and a large rear wing and all received 18 inch oz wheels in place of the stock f1s 17 inch wheels. The aero improvements saw the front fascia tweaked with new vents and a massive wing added to the rear.

The mclaren f1 lm uses michelin sx mxx3 tyres and features specially designed 18 inch 457 mm magnesium alloy wheels.

Three of the f1 lms were finished in papaya orange in homage to the racing cars of bruce mclaren while the remaining two were finished in black. At its core the lm and lm spec cars are a trophy for mclarens racing efforts. The downforce generated by the longer tail was found to be sufficient to not require the wing. The f1 gt featured the same extended rear bodywork as the gtrs for increased downforce and reduced drag yet lacked the rear wing that had been seen on the f1 lm.
