F1 Hybrid Cross
An f1 hybrid also known as filial 1 hybrid is the first filial generation of offspring of distinctly different parental types.
F1 hybrid cross. If the breeder now takes the pure line of each of the two plants he originally selected and cross pollinates the two by hand the result is known as an f1 hybrid. F1 hybrids are used in genetics and in selective breeding where it may appear as f1 crossbreed. There are many f1 hybrid crosses being tested right now some of which will be released for farmers in the coming years. The term is sometimes written with a subscript as f1 hybrid.
Plants are grown from seed produced and the result of this cross pollination should have a good habit and good colour. Its a class or type of varieties made by crossing two genetically distant parents and using the first generation f1 progeny. F1 hybrid seeds refers to the selective breeding of a plant by cross pollinating two different parent plants. Subsequent generations are called f2 f3 etc.
